I am an environmental geoscientist who reconstructs natural climate variability and human activities as recorded in lakes over the last 10,000 years. I am particularly interested in assessing pre-industrial human impact on landscapes, characterizing the range of natural hydroclimate (precipitation and evaporation), and looking at the impact of climate change on past societies.
I use a multi-proxy approach including sedimentology and stratigraphy, stable isotopes of authigenic carbonate minerals and organic matter, and trace element geochemistry.
