The overarching goal of this project is to assess the viability of regional lakes in southwestern Louisiana to provide long-term records of sediment delivery from flooding and nutrient loading and metal contamination arising from both natural and human-induced environmental change. While research is ongoing, preliminary results suggest that these local lakes will provide a record of geomorphological change, land use change, and toxic metal accumulation.
